The Band
The one question we are asked all the time is "how on earth did we put this all together?" The answer is that it didn't happen overnight, but that's why we're the best there is - a group of professional musicians who can play hundreds of songs at your request, without any backing tracks. It all started back in 2003...

The genesis of The Live Karaoke Band came from the collective foundation of 70's disco tribute Saturday Night Beaver and 80's school disco tribute Skool Daze by husband and wife Ali and Amanda Martin. Those two bands brought together Mark Robinson and subsequently Nick Leigh on guitar, Ben Kennedy on drums, and Liz Hubbock and Fiona Poustie on vocals for Saturday Night Beaver and Skool Daze respectively. In a very short time both bands were capturing the public imagination and were playing for a variety of clients including Butlins, Park Resorts, Bunn Leisure, Jumpin' Jaks, Chicago Rocks, The International Festival of the Sea and The Global Challenge, as well as a wide range of universities and military bases.

During this time, Ali worked with other function bands as a dep musician, including fellow 70's disco groovers Phat Medallion with Ian Fellows on drums, and original blues/rock band The Mustangs, fronted by Adam Norsworthy. After a couple of years running the two bands as separate units the musicians introduced The Playlist, a party band that not only took the best elements of the 70's and 80's sets but also allowed the freedom to play anything else they wanted. The band was promoted and managed by Nick and his company Tailored Entertainment.

In 2006 Ali reunited with Mark Robinson and Ian Fellows to setup The Modern Fix, an energetic guitar-based party band focusing on all the Brit hits that had emerged from the 90's and 00's. The band proved to be an immediate hit, regularly appearing at Walkabout venues and Butlins and earning a management contract with The Alive Network.
Then, in 2007, it all came together. Stumbling by chance upon a "live" karaoke band and, admittedly, being quite disappointed by the level of musicianship and show, Ali and Nick realised that they had all the pieces to put the ultimate party band together... a collection of experienced, professional musicians, an immediate set list of the best party songs from the last 50 years and the management team to make it all happen.
The Live Karaoke Band was born.
